What we see in Etobicoke
Etobicoke sits between the Humber River on the east and Etobicoke Creek on the west, with Mimico Creek running through the middle. Homes near these valleys, and older lakeshore homes in Mimico, New Toronto and Long Branch, see more than their share of wet basements after heavy rain.
Much of central Etobicoke is postwar bungalows and split-levels from the 1950s and 1960s. Many are now getting finished basements, second storeys or full rebuilds. When we open walls in homes of that age, we often find original drains and wiring. If we do, you see the fix as a new line with its price before anything goes ahead.
Along Humber Bay Shores, most of our work is in condos: water coming through from the unit above, kitchen and bathroom renovations, and working with property managers and condo boards on building rules.
