Insurance restoration claims, line by line

We bill your insurer directly, and your claim quote marks every line as covered by your claim or paid by you: upgrades, deductible and all. You see what you'll pay before the rebuild starts.

Damage happening now?

  1. Make it safe. Stay out of standing water if the power is on.
  2. Take photos and video before you move anything.
  3. Call your insurer for a claim number, then call us.

Every line says who pays

Insurance restoration usually goes wrong in one place: the homeowner can't tell what the insurer is paying for and what they are. Upgrades get mixed into the claim, the deductible shows up as a surprise, and the final invoice doesn't match anything you were shown.

Our claim quotes fix that. Every line is marked Claim (your insurer pays, based on the adjuster's approval) or You (you pay: your deductible, upgrades, and anything outside the claim). You see the total you'll pay before we start the rebuild.

We bill your insurer directly

We send the invoice for the covered work straight to your insurance company. You pay only your deductible and anything marked You, so you're never stuck carrying the cost of the claim while you wait to be reimbursed.

Like for like, and upgrades

Insurance restores what you had, with materials of similar kind and quality. If you had laminate countertops, the claim pays for laminate. If you want quartz, the claim still pays its share and you pay the difference, shown as its own line. Nothing gets hidden inside another number.

If the scope changes

Opening walls sometimes reveals more damage. When it does, we document it, send it to your adjuster, and show you the new line with its cost before we do the work.

Common questions about coverage

Water damage: sudden and accidental water damage inside the home is usually covered. Gradual leaks usually aren't.

Sewer backup and overland flooding: both are usually optional add-ons in Ontario, not part of a basic policy.

Fire and smoke: covered by almost every home policy, often with separate limits for the building, your contents and living expenses.

Mould: usually only covered when it's the direct result of a sudden, covered event.

Your adjuster decides what's covered. We don't. Our job is to document the damage clearly and give everyone the same itemized numbers.

Questions

Questions we hear

Can I choose my own restoration contractor?

In most cases, yes. Your insurer may suggest a company, but you can usually choose your own. Check your policy or ask your adjuster.

Do you bill my insurance company directly?

Yes. We bill your insurer directly for the covered work, so you only pay your deductible and any lines marked as yours on the quote.

What does like for like mean?

Insurance restores what you had with materials of similar kind and quality. Anything better is an upgrade, and you pay the difference.

When do I pay my deductible?

Your deductible is its own line on your quote, so you know the amount from the start. When it's due is written on your quote.

What if the adjuster and I disagree?

We give both of you the same documentation and the same itemized scope. If something is disputed, you see exactly which line it is.

Do I have to prevent more damage before the adjuster comes?

Yes. Policies expect you to take reasonable steps to stop further damage. Emergency extraction, drying and board-up do that, and they're usually part of the claim.
